2 Dead, 4 Injured in New Jersey Auto Accident
Two people are dead and four others, including two children, are facing serious injuries after a crash in Vineland on Nov. 1. New Jersey police confirmed that one driver failed to stop at an intersection, leading to the fatal auto accident. No charges are being filed, and the police investigation is still underway. They have asked for the support of the community in piecing together what happened.
According to the current report, it appears a 34-year-old man was transporting a 32-year-old passenger as well as a 5-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy, when the accident occurred. It seems the driver failed to stop at the intersection of North Delsea Drive and Almond Road around 9 p.m., causing a collision with another vehicle. The driver and his female passenger were killed in the crash.
The two children in the back seat suffered injuries described as serious. They were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The 30-year-old driver of the other vehicle and his 21-year-old male passenger were both listed in critical condition following the crash. Police are still working to determine whether any fault for the accident lies with the surviving driver.
If no fault is found in the surviving driver’s conduct, no criminal charges will be filed as New Jersey does not file charges posthumously. However, victims of an auto accident or their surviving families are entitled under state law to file personal injury and/or wrongful death lawsuits against the offending driver’s estate. These suits are handled in civil court and do not require a criminal charge or conviction to be won.
