New Jersey Man on Parkway Shoulder Killed in Car Accident
The shoulder of the road is often the only option for motorists who need to stop. Because of this, it is important for drivers in New Jersey to stay in the lanes of traffic while driving. Unfortunately, reports indicate that a New Jersey man was recently killed in a car accident after he was struck while he was standing on the shoulder of the road.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. on a day in September. According to reports, the man was stopped on the right shoulder. He was reportedly standing outside of his vehicle at the time of the accident.
Police say that a 41-year-old driver exited the lanes of traffic onto the shoulder and struck the man and his vehicle. He, unfortunately, died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. Police say that they have not filed charges against the driver, who was uninjured. However, the incident remains under investigation.
Unfortunately, an expected car accident such as this can leave families attempting to cope with the unexpected loss of a family member. Both the emotional and financial implications of such a loss can have significant, long-term impacts. Even if charges are filed against the driver who allegedly struck the New Jersey man, the surviving family members of the deceased victim of the option of seeking legal recourse by filing a wrongful death lawsuit. If they can prove that their loss came as a result of negligence, they could receive a monetary award that will ensure their financial obligations are met, allowing them to focus on their overall recovery.
