Woman Receives Multiple Charges in DUI Case

A 33-year-old woman was taken into custody by New Jersey police during the early morning hours of Feb. 23. At about 1:04 a.m., police spotted a Buick LeSabre drive past them on Route 202/206 north at the Verizon Switching station. A traffic stop was conducted after authorities noted that she didn’t signal properly and that her vehicle had tinted windows.

Although the woman stopped her vehicle, she refused to get out and continued driving on Route 202. It eventually jumped a curb and got stuck in a swamp. She was charged with driving under the influence as well a second-degree count of eluding police. In addition, she received citations for failing to properly signal and for not obeying a traffic signal. Other citations included reckless driving, careless driving and getting DWI within 1,000 feet of a school.

Those who are charged with driving under the influence could face a variety of penalties. These penalties may include spending time in jail, paying a fine and losing a drivers license for months or years. In some cases, a license may be revoked entirely.
